Practical Ashtakavarga

Vinay Aditya

  • Ashtakavarga is a unique system of Vedic Astrology, the parallel of which is found in no other astrological system.
  • There are many books on Ashtakavarga that deal extensively with the calculations and pay little attention to the application part. Practical Ashtakavarga gives the most essential calculations, briefly. The focus is on how to use Ashtakavarga in myriad situations in any kind of chart, be it the Birth chart, Divisional charts, Horary chart, Mundane or the Annual Chart.
  • Comparison of bindus in different houses gives an overall idea of the life pattern. Principles have been enumerated and astrological commonsense invoked.
  • Saturn’s transit (including Sadhe Sati) and the use of Ashtakavarga has been dealt with extensively along with simple as well as profound Nadi principles.
  • Use of Ashtakavarga in Matching of horoscopes has been discussed in all its multifarious colours.
  • Ashtakavarga helps in selecting the right Muhurta. What to look for and what to avoid has been explained through case studies of many miserably failed and some gloriously successful satellites lauched by ISRO.
  • How Ashtakavarga helps identify the kind of professional success has been explained outlining which dashas are more conducive to give good results. Several illustrations of well known personalities have been discussed.
  • Ashtakavarga helps identify the weak parts of the body that are susceptible to disease. Detailed explanation given with medical case studies.
  • How to use Ashtakavarga has been described for recommending the appropriate gem stone or any other suitable remedial measure.
  • Rarely found, benefic positions for casting the Bhinnashatakavarga of Ketu have been given. It is explained how Rahu and Ketu’s dasha and transit can be interpreted.
  • Progressively sophisticated methods have been explained for the first time for finding ‘How is Your Day Today’. And much more...

Excellent

I finished the book in 3 days, like reading an exciting novel. I immediately ordered the author's previous book the first day. However, you don't need the previous book to understand this book. Every page of the book is full of information and commentary. The language is understandable. He never uses Sanskrit Jyotish terms in his writing style and that's why it's so fluent. There are a few spelling mistakes in the book; but he teaches so well that you get to the point where you realize they're mistakes and don't really care. There was a part that confused me and I sent an e-mail to the author. He responded very quickly. His attitude is very valuable to me. I've read dozens of Jyotish books, this was one of them that drew me in the most. I wish the author would publish more books. I recommend it to everyone.

User friendly for new learners

Many topics included are noteworthy like "Ashtakvarga for Rahu & Ketu", "Deciding Profession" etc. Though professional and advanced astrologers may find it novice but, for new learners like me it was really good. I would suggest all new students must go through this book at least once.

To be read in continuation with 'Dots of Destiny', this book brings out unexpected but revealing glimpses into the fairly virgin territory that is Ashtakavarga. Thank you and please stay away from your 'illustrious' BVB mentor.
